U18 Women lose to Japan

Hungary was still looking for their first win and their first goal at the World Championships in Miskolc as they took on favorites Japan.

Japan-Hungary 7-0

With Japan being relegated from last years A-Pool, they were the favorites to go back up as well. Head coach Norbert Buzás gave Vanessa Horváth the start in net. Japan had an early powerplay, on which they took advantage of, right after this Japan had a 5 on 3 which they failed to score on thanks to the great penalty kill by Hungary. In the closing minutes of the period Hinta looped around the net and put the puck past Horváth to give Japan a 2-0 as they hit the first intermission. In the second minute of the second period Tsukimoto clanged a shot off the bar but Sonoda was on the spot to put the puck in. Japan went up 4-0 at the midway point of the game, later in the period Horváth was switched for Yumi Maruyama, whose father happens to be Japanese. Japan scored twice in the remaining six minutes, first  Konishi and later Hinta to put Japan up 6-0. Japan also switched goalies for the third period. Hungary created most of their scoring chances but Japan was the only team that scored in the final twenty minutes as they would win 7-0.
