The Hungarian U20 national team has finished up their first day of training camp and the for roster cut has been made as well.
The U20 team was through four scrimmages as the 80 plus players were split into four squads and scrimmaged. At the end of the day the coaching duo of Bence Svasznek and Dávid Kiss trimmed the roster down to the final forty skaters and six goalies.
The team will be back on the ice tomorrow for another full day of practice with the final roster being set at the end of the day.
Interim head coach Bence Svasznek gave his opinion about the first day. “We put the full roster together according to the recommendations of the club coaches, today our goal was to cut the roster in half, tomorrow we will have more scrimmages and cut that roster in half again and this will be the final roster that will face the United States. Today was hard day, it is the start of the season and most of the guys have not been on the ice in two-three months, some players were rusty and the level of play was not at where we wanted it to be. We know that we would not where we would like to be at the middle of the season. There were some hard decisions as usual but there were also a number of easy ones as well.”
