U20 Roster is set for the weekend

The U20 mens national team will be spending the week in Budapest at the rink of UTE during the Four nations tournament. The team will be under the guidance of Rich Chernomaz, who along with Tamás Sille and Gary Clark will be pulling double duty as coaching the senior mens team as well this week.

This tournament is important since it is the last time the team can play other opponents before the world championships commence in December in Dunaújváros. This week the team will play France, Italy and Slovenia, the first two teams are a level above Hungary with Slovenia being an opponent at the upcoming Worlds.

“We are expecting that everyone plays to the max and that we beat everyone. It will be a good measuring stick to see where we are at compared to teams that are playing one level ahead of us,” said forward Kristóf Schmál.

The final roster consists of two goalies seven defencemen and thirteen forwards.

“We would like to produce the best results and the best form. It looks like the team has come together. Right now we were cut down to the final roster so I would say we are ready for the tournament,” added defenceman András Herszényi.

Coach’s Corner

“I think that we are focusing on the World championships and this is our last test before the WC. What is most important is that we work on the system and play in the system compared to the actual results, the lines are slowly coming together and we are seeing that chemistry is coming together. So far this training camp has been great, with the battles for roster spots. This is a great team that I hope will become even great in the next month,” Zoltán Szilassy U20 assistant coach.
