U20 Shutout Estonia

2015.12.16. 14:15 |

Looks like the day off had helped Hungary as they were back on track with a dominating shutout win against Estonia to stay undefeated.

Rich Chernomaz gave Gergely Arany the start in net after the day off, the line combinations remained the same from the game against the Netherlands except that he flipped the third and fourth forward trios. With Hungary on their first penalty kill, instead of Estonia taking advantage of the opportunity Hungary was the one that went up 1-0 on a shorthanded goal by Bence Stipsicz with Dániel Vizi getting the assist. Seconds after the ten minute mark of the game Bence Bödök doubled the Hungarian lead when he took a pass from istván Terbócs and put it past Daniil Seppenen, the Estonian goalie. Bödök scored his second of the period in the final minute to put Hungary up 3-0. At first it look as if the high scoring pace would continue into the second period as Erik Keresztury scored 68 seconds into the second period. However that was all the scoring that took place even though Estonia had a two man power play. Hungary got back on track in the third period as Keresztury setup Csanád Erdély 32 seconds into the final period. Zsombor Kiss scored the sixth Hungarian goal later in the period and Arany went the distance for the shutout.

Coaches' Corner

Rich Chernomaz: He played great today, we kept them under pressure and our back check was working as well. There was never a doubt that we wouldn’t win the game, our power play and our five on five game was great. We defended well, we didn't really give them any time or space to create anything.

View from the ice:

Bence Stipsicz: Today we played a good game and followed instructions pretty well. we still need to improve in some areas and tomorrow's day off gives us the chance to do so. Overall we played a good game and we competed well.

Gergely Arany: We dominated the game from start to finish and we easily won 6-0 against Estonia. The boys played great and with confidence in front of me and there was no doubt who would win the game. We have to go step by step from here to achieve our goal.
