Volán will face DVTK for Hungarian Cup

Fehérvár AV19-MAC Budapest 3-1
In the second semi final the MOL League runner up MAC Budapest took on the top qualifying team Fehérvár AV19. MAC had Bence Bálizs in net, Tomas Klempa and Dávid Szappanos were missing from the lineup. Fehérvár had Miklós Rajna in net, Frank Banham and Dániel Kóger were out with injuries. It didn’t take long for Fehérvár to jump out to the lead as 63 seconds into the game Andrew Sarauer got behind the MAC defence and slipped the puck past Bálizs to go up 1-0. In the first minute of the second period Jeff Hayes picked up a loose puck dished it to Niko Saarenpaa who went high, glove side to tie the game up at 1-1. Minutes later with Fehérvár on the power play Andrew Sarauer put a shot on net that was saved by Bálizs but Chris Bodó was there to put the rebound in to put Volán up by one. The score stayed in the favor of Fehérvár through the rest of the period and all of the third until MAC pulled Bálizs for the extra attacker. In the end András Benk scored a power play goal to give Volán a 3-1 win.

Fehérvár coach Hannu Jarvenpaa: I think it was a high level game, they played very well, it was enough and now will will challenge Miskolc tomorrow.

MAC coach Gergely Majoross: We respected them too much at the start of the game, we needed so saves from Bálizs and we were in command of the second half of the game, unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of our chances.

Andrew Sarauer Fehérvár forward: It was a pretty tight game it was big to get the lead and to take the crowd out of it.

Viktor Tokaji MAC defenceman: After the slow start we were able to match their pace, we were able to create scoring chances but we did not take advantage of it, I am proud of the way we played this season.
