We stuck to the game plan

After picking up their first A-Pool win since 1939 the Hungarian players were clearly happy with the way they played. One of the key factor was that they had learned from their loss the day before against the U.S.

Gergő Nagy. I am shocked, we played great, goalies, defencmen and forwards we all played great and we proved that we can stand up. Everyone stuck to the game plan, now we will rest and get ready for the Germany game.

Márton Vas: It has been a dream of mine to see the Hungarian flag raised at the World Championships. We have shown the world what we are made of, now we will prepare for the game against Germany.

Vilmos Galló: It was a sensational feeling to hear the Hungarian anathan after the game. We played the way we should and that was the key today. We knew we had to win today and we did.

Andrew Sarauer:I can’t express how I feel, it is great to give the fans a win and we can show people how we play. We dug down and battled back to pull out the win after they tied it up at 2-2. This was a great team effort by everyone, and it was nice to hear the anthem.

János Vas: It was nice to beat a team like this today, and we played as a team and this was the sector for the win. This win was not just for us but also for the fans, it was a historical win.

Miklós Rajna: I couldn’t say we had the win until after we scored the last goal. I knew we would be able to when when I saw that we were taking advantage of their mistakes. For me it didn't matter if I played on back to back days or not. They are a technical team where they cycle the puck well and they were able to set up some two on ones. I trusted my defenseman and everything worked out well.

Balázs Sebők: I went away on the breakaway, I saw where the goalie was so I knew what I was going to do. The puck was bouncing a bit so I pulled it closed my eye and put it past the goalie. We had to stick to our game plan and play smart, not give up the puck. We played disciplined in the third period and capped it off with a usual Hungarian empty netter. Yesterday's game was a lesson for us and we saw what happened when we don’t play within the game plan.

Rich Chernomaz: We played with great confidence and we were able to show that we belong here. The biggest difference between today and and yesterday's days game was our attitude. We were lucky that we had the lead after the first period. Now we have chance to staying in the A-Pool, of course it doesnt matter how we play on Monday against Germany. Wins like this is great for us, more kids will start to pick up the sport in Hungary and we will get more sponsor money.

Dave Lewis: Congrats to Rich and his players and the coaching staff. We didn’t really give them chances but a couple of our players just didn’t play, our power play needs to be better as well. There were a lot of reasons why we played this way.
