After losing two opponents that were a level above Hungary they had a disappointing loss to France a team who they thought was a beatable squad, however the pucks didn't bounce in Hungary’s favor.
Miklós Rajna: I think I just played my most unlucky period of the season during the first period, I just tried to put that behind me and focus on what was in front, we had a couple of unlucky bounces now we have to focus on the next game.
Márton Vas: A team like this you can’t give them any space, we were able to do this in the third period, soon as a player got the puck we were on them. We need to cut down on the mistakes in the next game. At this level every team is hard to beat and every team has NHL players.
Kalvin Sagert: We didn't make it ease for ourselves after the three games but we are a resilient bunch and we will get our focus back for the next game.
István Sofron: This loss hurt a bit more as we did not play focused, we didn't stick to the tactics, they were a beatable team and we didn't take advantage of it. Level as them and unfortunately we beat ourselves. Luck was not on our side today now we just need to work hard for the next game.
Frank Banham: We got away from our game plan, we didn’t play as well as we did during the first to games, they capitalized on their opportunities. We were pumped for the first game of the tournament against Slovakia and clearly against Canada we were pumped but do day teh lockerroom did feel like we were pumped. We need to get back to game plan and play simple, I think we have a good enough game plan that we can surprise some people.
Rich Chernomaz:Our team was taught a very valuable lesson tonight, we had the mindset was that we need to play the same against every team. France was a very patient and disciplined team that waited for our mistakes which resulted in goals. They scored on chances that you have to score on at this level.
Dave Henderson: We have learned in the past few years that we can’t take anyone lightly, in November we played a really tough game against Hungary, who played great against Canada, they kept them to a low number of shots. We were able to take advantage of our chances, this was not a 6-2 game Sacha Treille happened to be in great form and Cristobal Huet was in outstanding form.
