Week 18 Preview

2015.01.16. 10:13 |

With only three weeks left in the season the playoff picture is starting to become clear, HSC will most likely be eliminated from playoff contention with the  top of the table becoming a two team race between Miskolc and DAB.Docler.

A couple weeks ago it looked as if Nové Zámky could add a regular season title to the out right MOL League title they won last season but since then the team has been struggling. Rumors have surfaced about match fixing going on but nothing concrete has come out. Miskolc travels to Slovakia, but with a win could just about eliminate NZ from the regular season title. On Sunday will be a true test and will have a real playoff atmosphere as DAB will try to at least be even on points with Miskolc.

Dunaujváros will be hosting Ferencváros on Friday after winning in overtime last week, Attila Pavuk hopes to be back in the lineup against FTC but at the latest against Miskolc, Peter Sevela is still struggling with a hand injury, Márk Hajek will continue to be the number two goalie.

Ferencváros could all but be eliminated from the playoffs this weekend, after the game against DAB.Docler they will host Nové Zámky who they upset 4-3 last week. It looks like the coaching staff has been mixing the lines up because of injury but also trying to go with four balanced lines to keep the legs fresh for this late playoff push. After having their rink closed because of technical difficulties they will be hosting UTE in a game that was postponed from last week. If Újpest picks up all six points in Transylvania and FTC loses their first two games this week a loss to UTE would eliminate Ferencváros from the playoffs.

Joining Újpest in Transylvania this weekend with be Debrecen who is in a bit of a slump, this trip can either get them out of the rut our pretty much give UTE a chance to close the gap between the two teams. Brasov will be trying to jump Nové Zámky in an effort to have the best opportunity in the playoffs to advance to the semi finals.

Brasov travels to Csíkszereda where the host team hopes to win against Brasov for the first time this season

Playoff picture:

HSC is out with a loss and an Újpest win.

FTC is out if they lose all three games and UTE wins all three games.

If NZ loses both games and Miskolc wins both NZ eliminated from being regular season champions.

If Brasov loses at least two out of three and Miskolc wins both their games Brasov can not win the regular season.

With two wins and one FTC loss Debrecen in in the playoffs
