Week 2 Preview

2015.09.16. 19:12 |

The MOL League is in full swing as the league opens up its second week of match play with a total of twelve matches. After not playing last week Brasov finally gets into action as well.

Early season league leaders MAC Budapest make their first trip to Transylvania, goalie Bence Bálizs picked up a minor injury during the first couple of games, even if he is healthy look for head coach Gergely Majoross to give both Bálizs and Gergely Arany a start during the road trip. HSC Csíkszereda could have as many as four new imports in their lineup against the Budapest team. Playing back to back nights is always hard in Transylvania regardless of where the home team is in the standings, Brasov on paper does not look as strong as last season but they will have fresh legs and are ready to start the season. The Two Transylvanian clubs will face each other in the first derby of the season on Tuesday night.

After losing the season opener to defending champions DVTK, Ferencváros showed they will not be a pushover, they will play host to Debrecen on Friday night, a team that has won both their games so far this season and could be a real surprise team. Fradi has been without Jimmy Jenson who only played the season opener, Rob Izsák has not yet been cleared to play for Debrecen. The second game of the week for the green and white is against Dunaújváros who they beat last week on the road. DAB could be without Dávid Duschek who has an illness. After playing Fehérvár AV19 in a thrilling match on Tuesday night FTC will travel south west for a rematch against Volán which looks to be a good matchup. Debrecen is still without team captain Balázs Ladányi and will miss Artyom Vaszjunyin as well who picked up a game misconduct against UTE and has been suspended for two games. After starting on the road against FTC, Debrecen will play host to Újpest and Dunaújváros, both of which are playing at DHK for the first time this season.

DVTK started the season with a win in regulation and followed that one up with an overtime winner. They have no problem with their offensive production, they are spending this weekend in Fejér county as they will play Dunaújváros on Friday night before moving on to Szekésfehérvár for a Sunday night matchup against Volán. Both the PolarBears and Volán have been scoring at a high rate but they have also let in more goals than they would like to. The defending champions will close out the week with a game against Újpest who hopes to have captain and scorer Teemu Elomo back from injury. UTE has been lacking scoring so far this season, a healthy Elomo could be a huge boost for them.
