After Hungary’s 1-0 win over Austria today, icehockey.hu cought up with coaches from both sides as they shared thier thoughts.
Michael Schmidt, Austrian assistant coach: Both teams were very even today and it came down to a mistake from our goalie. All week we could see that the girls were still playing in summer mode. For us it was good learning experience as we were missing seven players from our squad and we had a line of U18 players. Next time we will have a stronger team.
Tibor Marton, Hungarian head coach: It is great that we did not concede a goal through three periods of hockey on the road against Austrian. This was probably the most important thing during the game. We need to play patient because we will have scoring chances, if we play tight in the back and we pay attention then we will score goals up top. I was expecting a bit more from the girls especially from the side of tactics, but our attitude was great. We had just under 40 girls is camp which is great, we will be keeping an eye on the girls work, we will keep in contact with the club coaches. Our strength and conditioning coach will work with the girls that need this.
