Women Lose to Austria

In the closing game of their four nations tournament Hungary took on host team Austria in St.Pölten.

After a loss to Canada and a shootout win versus the Czech Republic, Hungary coach Tibor Marton strated goalie Anikó Németh in net for the third straight game. Austria was leading before the five minute mark of the game, later in the first period Austria scored a power play goal to go up 2-0. Twenty seconds after the second Austria goal Hungary made it a one goal game again with Réka Dabasi finding the back of the net. Like in the first period Austria scored a power play goal and an even strength goal in the second period as well, however this time around Hungary did not have an answer as the home team took a 4-1 lead into the final period. With just under ten minutes left in the game Tibor Marton switched goalies and sent in Vanessa Horváth for Németh. Austria scored once against Horváth as well as the home team won 5-1.

Hungary head coach Tibor Marton: Of the three games that we played this one was the one that I am the least satisfied with, we gave them a number of chances compared to the other two teams. We thought that or defending would be strong and would not have to put so much time and effort into that part of the game, but more into developing our offense. Our other problem was that we were not strong in front of our own net, Austria was a better team, but of we would have paid attention more this would have been a closer game.
