
With a big win and a one goal loss behind the girl took on Spain on the last day of the 4 Nations tournament in Sheffield England. Spain had won in regulation and an overtime win already during the weekend.
Piroska Hodos started in net for Hungary and Yumi Maruyama was the backup for the game. The game started a hour early because of the flight schedule for the Spanish national team. Spain went up 1-0 on a goal by inline world champion Vega Munoz Delgado in the 14th minute.
After a five minute intermission in the second period Eva Marques put Spain up by two goals, following the goal Spain committed the only penalty of the game but Hungary was not able to take advantage of the power play. In a span of 36 seconds Marques scored her second goal of the game, this time short handed. Just at the midway point of the game Abrisqueta made it 4-0 at this time Hodos was taken out of the net invader of Maruyama, but things did not get better as Gomez made it 5-0, and goal in the closing second of the period put Spain up 6-0.
The scoring dropped off in the third period but unfortunately Spain scored the lone goal of the final twenty minute to make it 7-0.
Hungarian head coach Norbert Búzás: We lost big to a very strong Spanish team, unfortunately they were able to take advantage of most of their chances, where as we were not able to convert. Our opponents on paper were equal to us except we were not as strong in front of the net as they were.
