The women’s national team has come to the end of the training camp before the world championships. They will open against Holland on the 4th at 17:00 at the Division 1/B world championships. There was also a change in the roster.
The team was in Cavalese and travelled to Asiago on Sunday, the sight of the world championships. The will be playing the second game of the opening say as they will be taking on Holland, with a game against Latvia on day 2. After a day off the girls will be back on the ice to take on Kazakhstan which will be followed up by a game against the host team Italy and they will close out the week against China.
Zora Gottlibet replaced Alexandra Huszák on the roster, the official reason is as follows:
The Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation has been in talks with a major international company since December 2016 about sponsoring the Hungarian Women’s national team. Part of the planned sponsorship was that the most talented players would receive a scholarship. Unfortunately the contract was not signed by the start of the world championships therefor Alexandra Huszák and her family have decided that in absence of the sponsorship she will not take part in the world championships. The HIHF and the national team are sorry about an important player not bale able to play but have accepted her decision.
