Tibor Marton and his coaching staff have named the travel squad for the two scrimmages in Poland. The team will have a practice on Thursday and will be travelling to Katowice to take on the Polish national team.
“In the past I have thought about this a lot, that as the girls grow up their practice and game situations change once they are adult players.” said Tibor Marton.
“There are some girls that will not be with us because of their club not releasing them or because of injuries. We can not changes this, one thing that we can do is to do the most with the squad and the time we do have.” The women’s senior team will play Poland Friday night at 19:30 and Saturday afternoon at 14:00 in Katowice. During the IIHF break the girls will face France, Denmark and Slovakia in Újpest. The season will come to a close for teh ladies in Asiago Italy during the Division 1/B World Championships between April 4th and the 11th.
“We have a long term plan up until February 2018 which we hope to build on up until then. We would like to develop the team in the long run and the next step is the upcoming Four Nations Tournament. However we had the chance to face Poland twice and we thought that this was a great opportunity for us. After a small rest we will start preparations for the tournament where we will be facing teams that are playing one division above us. We are only worrying about what can help this team in the long run, which means new young players getting into the fold. These next couple of days will be a nice challenge for us and we hope to answer the call.”
