The Hungarian U18 girls are back on the ice again representing their country in an international tournament.
The U18 World Selects invitational is being held from July 31st-August 3rd at the Ice Palace, the same site that hosted the U18 World Championships this past spring.
Each team will play two games each on Thursday and Friday with one on Saturday, and a second game on Saturday if they did not make it into the semi finals. Both the semi finals and the finals will be played on Sunday. Either way all the teams involved will have a tiring weekend ahead of them.
The Hungarian team will be showing up with a bit of a different roster compared to what they had at the world championships. Instead of the coaching duo of of Norbert Buzás and Roger Holéczy behind the bench Hungary will have Tibor Marton with the general manager being Zsuzsanna Kolbenheyer instead of Csaba Gömöri.
On the ice the team will have to go with Anikó Németh between the pipes for every game since Renáta Poltzer will be unavailable. Originally Dorottya Medgyes and Kinga Jókai-Szilágyi were not on the roster but have become late additions. The team will only have 14 players available for the group stage with Lilli Pintér and Hanna Pintér joining the team for the weekend and Tifani Horváth only joining on Sunday.
In the group stage Hungary will be facing the national teams of Germany, Sweden, and Slovakia, a select team made up of players from the U.S. and Canadian east coast as well as the Russian club SKIF.
The puck drops between Hungary and Germany on Thursday at 11:30.
