We are almost there

After losing 3-2 in a shootout to Russia over all the players and the coaching staff was satisfied with the way the team played. Hungary had a 2-0 lead at one point in the game and there was a lot of positives to build off of.

Kevin Wehrs: It was really exciting, I don’t know when was the last time I scored and had chills like that, it felt really great. We switched up the defensive pairs a bit, Russia is a really good team, we managed to keep the puck out of the net and hung in there in the end.

Zsombor Garát: We started a bit slow but both myself and the team was able to pick up the speed of the Russians. We were able to stay in the game and keep it tied, we should be proud of the way we played. I was paired with Stipsicz at the start of the game and the with Orbán and finished it back up with Kevin. It was great playing with Bence again. I have no clue how the roster cuts will happen, I hope it will go in my favor but I know I did everything I could to make the team and I’m happy with that.

István Bartalis: My knee feels great and I felt great both mentally and physically. The team played great and we stayed with the tactics, we were slow at the start but picked up the speed. I had played with Nagy last night and I had played with Sofron in the past so it feld good playing with them. On the goal, I went down into the corner turned back and fed it to Sofron who put it in.

Viktor Tokaji: It was great that we could play 2-2 against Russia, the win would have been the icing on the cake. I was happy to have a shift in the early part of the game and it was great to see the game on the bench instead of from where I usually do. I know that I will miss it but it was great to go through one last pregame routine with the guys.

István Sofron: This was a very technical and skilled team, who made great pass and great plays, but we knew what we had to do. We tried to bring our physical game it worked both today and yesterday as well. We are missing the routine against teams like this, it is great that we can face teams like this and be able to stand our ground against teams from this level. We have a couple of days to relax before getting back to work.

Rich Chernomaz: After last night's game, we had just about the same line up, you could see at the start of the game we were not as rested and you could see that they have a very good team. We had excellent goaltending to keep up in the game. We still need to be able to play in structure from start to finish, this was a very good test for us.

Jaroslav Frantsev: We got what we expected, Hungary was a very physical and fast team, since they are also playing in the A-Pool we knew it wouldn't be an easy game. Hungary will be trying to stay in the A-Pool and I think they have a good chance to do this.
