After winning all three exhibition games last week the Hungarian U18 national team travelled to Asiago Italy to compete in the Division 1/B world championships.
Head coach Glen Williamson and his squad was relegated last season from Division 1/A,in the opening game against Korea Martin Szeles started in net. About four minutes into the period the lights went dark in the arena which had to be fixed. Once that was taken care of the two teams really took off. Hungary had a power play late in the period however they were not able to take advantage of it. In the last minute of play Brúnó Kreisz skated down the left wing, went past the defender and shot the puck top shelf against the Korean goalie.
Just past the midway point of the game Hungary killed a penalty, both teams had number of scoring chances however the puck did not score either goal line. Like in the first period the all the excitement game in the closing minutes Korea tied it up however less than a minute later Renátó Tóth scored a goal when he put home a Patrik Kiss rebound to put Hungary back up by one.
The third period started with a Korean power play from the second period, and they capitalized on it to tie the game up in the first minute of the third period. Szita put Hungary back up by one when he jumped on a loose puck and put it home, on the ensuing shift a Korean player tried to clear the puck from in front of the net but whiffed, Bálint Horváth was on the spot to put the puck into the empty net. Hungary would go on to score twice more before the period was out. Kreisz made it 5-2 when he put his own rebound in, in the last minute of play Horváth also scored his second of the game after he got set up on a nice tic-tac-toe play, his first shot was stuffed but he managed to put his own rebound in.
Brúnó Kreisz was named player of the game for Hungary.
