The Hungarian national team was on the ice today for only one ice session as head coach Rich Chernomaz has given the team the afternoon off.
The senior ice hockey team was on the ice from 10:00, with the first half hour being a goalie practice. However with only one practice today the team fully used the 100 minute on ice practice.The Tüskecsarnok also had some guests today as Canon, the camera company decided to introduce and test their newest models at the practice session.
On Wednesday the team will be back on the ice for their usual two training sessions for the day, there will be one practice on Thursday before taking on Kazakhstan and the Russian ‘B’ team on Friday and Saturday.
Diego Scandella: We started to work on the tactical preparation the past two days, it will go game to game. Tamás Sille went to Pozsony to film the Slovakia game and we will cut the tape this afternoon. So far we have been working on the 5 on 5, we have yet to touch the special teams yet. We are still missing some of the players but we will cut players after the game on Saturday, tomorrow afternoon we will be able to truly see how everyone is doing. In 2009 we had 30 players in camp this year we had 80 players, the players are better now. We will need to stay in our structure if we want to take away points.
Gergő Nagy: We worked on shooting drills and then we worked on the play in the defensive end and when the puck is behind our own goal. We are getting better with each practice and we are where we should be both mentally and physically. The two practices a day are tiring mentally, physically we are doing great thanks to the work of Sándor Puskás.
Kevin Wehrs: We are working on a lot of systems, defensive zone work, for checks, all the little details that we still need to get down in our heads. It takes some time to get used to guys after playing with someone new, all you need to do is pick up on their tendencies, this year I played with a number of guys this season so this is nothing new. I will just take it easy this afternoon.
Vilmos Galló: We had a nice fast paced practice and we can see that everyone is starting to come together. We are started to get down the tactics as well, I think will be playing on the wing during the up coming games. I plan on getting under the skin of some of the players this afternoon, but the main thing is to hangout with the guys today.
