After coming up on the losing end in games against Slovakia and Canada, Hungary was ready to take it to France. The French had picked up two points in a shootout win over Germany which placed them in sixth place with Hungary in seventh.
For game three Rich Chernomaz had Miklós Rajna back in net with Ádám Vay on the bench, also getting back into the lineup was Dániel Kóger and Kalvin Sagert. The three scratched players for the game were Bálint Magosi, Zoltán Hetényi and István Mestyán.

The first scoring chance for Hungary came in the second minute of play when Bence Stipsicz sent a puck off the goal post from the top of the left faceoff circle. The opening minutes of the game belonged to Hungary as they set the tone in the opening minutes of the game. France took the opening lead of the game as a shot from the blue line was redirected past Rajna. Hungary killed two penalties before they were awarded their first power play of the game. The game was tied up 1-1 on a power play goal by Márton Vas after the French goal made a save off of a Gergő Nagy shot. France took back the lead on a shot from high in the slot, Rajna was screened and did not see the shot. In the closing minutes of the period France was awarded their third power play of the period and this time they managed to score as a close range shot went off a Hungarian skate and in to put France up 3-1.
The second period was nothing like the first for Hungary, as well as they were playing in the first, things were not clicking in the second. Fortunately France was not able to take advantage of this. Late in the period France came down the ice on a three on two, the right winger squared the puck, all the attacker had to do was tap it into put France up 4-1. Hungary really had their work cut out heading into the third period.
The third period started slow for Hungary but they started to wake up as the game went on. Vilmos Galló is starting to make a habit of chirping with the top players of the other team, this time he had a conversation with Pierre-Éduard Bellemare. Hungary made it a two goal game when Márton Vas took a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that went off of István Sofron’s skate and inm to make it 4-2. Later in the period France went back up by three goals as they scored on a power play from a shot from the left faceoff dot. Hungary had a straight five on three for two minutes that they were not able to score on, just as France killed the two man penalty kill Sacha Trille completed his hattrick for France. The score remained 6-1 in favor of France.
