Hungary beats Austria in back to back games

After the win on Friday the Hungarian national team was back on the ice for a rematch against Austria this time in Vienna.

There were a number of changes to the roster as the two goalies and ten skaters were inserted into the lineup as half the roster was changed. Miklős Rajna got the start in net with Bence Bálizs as the backup. Austria also had a number of changed to their lineup, which was much stronger on home ice, David Kickert was in net for the second game in a row.

The Austrians controlled most of the first period, but not by much.  Hungary had one power play opportunity that they were not able to capitalize on, István Terbócs playing in his second national team game had scoring chance from up close but Kickert made the save. Later in the period Austria had a 5 on 3 power play for 67 which Hungary killed as well as the ensuing power play thanks to a number of great saves by Rajna.

In the first minute of the second period Vilmos Galló skated in on goal and fired a shot from the slot that almost trickled through the Austrian goalie.  At the midway point of the game Rich Chernomaz switched goalies as Bence Bálizs came in for Miklós Rajna. Hungary had a power play later in the period that they set up nicely however none of the shots made it to the net.
After a power play carried over from the second period Austria scored a goal in the last seconds of the man advantage when Haudem skated down the left wing past Stipsicz and lifted the puck past Bálizs. Minutes later Karol Csányi dumped the puck around the end boards to Attila Orbán put a shot on net that went off of an Austrian skate and into the back of the net. Right after the goal Hungary had a 5 on 3 advantage that they were not able to capitalize on it.  In the closing minutes of the game Galló picked up a loose puck, deked past the goalie, went to his backhand and lifted the puck over the goal line. In the closing seconds Gergő Nagy scored an empty netter to put the nail in the coffin.
